Montana Registered Agent Foreign LLC or Corporation FAQs
Do I need to register my business with the state of Montana?
If you are generating revenue in Montana, the state requires you to let them know about it. You will then have a foreign LLC or Corporation in Montana. It is a good idea anyway, so that others can't use your name in Montana.
What is the fine for not registering my business with Montana?
The state will fine you $5.00 per day from the first day you did work in the state, up to $1000.00
What do I need to register?
You need a certificate of existence or good standing from your home state. We charge $51.00 to obtain this from your state, because all states charge for this service. If you have a current copy, (within 6 months) we can use that and your fees with us would just be the $99 incorporation fee. The certificate of existence is our only price difference in forming a domestic Montana LLC or Corporation and forming a Foreign Montana LLC or Corporation.
You will need to provide us with the list of directors, and basic company information. You'll be done filling out our form in 5 minutes.
What do I have to do to remain in good standing with Montana?
You will need to return an annual report just like a domestic Montana LLC or corporation does, along with the states $15.00 fee. If you don't want to worry about this task, we do it for business entities for $60.00 a year.
Do I need a registered agent?
The Montana Secretary of State requires you to have a physical Montana address to receive official mail and documents. If you have a location you feel comfortable giving this task to, you can use that location. Otherwise, it's recommended to hire a registered agent service like us to fulfill this requirement for you. Montana Registered Agent only charges $49.00 a year, which is half of our next cheapest competitor, and then we help remind you when and how to keep up with your annual reports and compliance with Montana State.
